Yes! To Cravings.
You know that moment! You’ve been thinking about it for a while. A little feeling in the back of your mind. Let’s explore that. . .
What do you want?
What do you need?
(You can have whatever you want!)
Salty?
Sweet?
Comfort Food?
Weight?
Water?
Protein?
Coffee?
Creamy?
Are you hungry?
It’s okay to not be hungry and still eat! But, if you’re not super hungry - you just NEED something, this gives you a great opportunity to explore what that something is. When you give into a craving, even when you’re not hungry, you are teaching yourself safety. You are letting yourself know that you hear the need and you're willing to fulfill it. Even if it’s off plan, off schedule or scary. This is such a big part of undoing diet mentality that has most likely been sabotaging you for years. This is you, looking at yourself with compassion, and responding to the correct need with love and value. Then, this next step is highly important - treat yourself kindly. Recognize that giving in to a craving feels. . . scary, out of control, stressful, off plan, uncomfortable, exciting, invigorating, desperate, powerful, loving, gentle. . . there are a lot of words to explore how you may feel on both sides of the need. I know this may feel hard, but you are learning to comfort yourself outside of what you thought was okay. You’re learning to realize that you were giving food too big of a place in your life. You’re learning to let food just be food and untangle it from your connection to comfort, control, and safety.
You’re aligning with a new truth.
