After Christmas Detox
If you’re feeling a little sluggish after too much yumminess over the Winter festivities, I want to share my favorite detox with you.
Why detox?
This detox allows your body to rid itself of any excess that accumulates from heavy foods or too much alcohol. It’s a great way to flush your body when you may find that your bathroom visits aren’t as regular.
There are many different kinds of detoxes that focus on heavy metals or certain organs in your body. These all require different levels of commitment and sacrifice. This is a more general and gentle detox that allows you to continue with all your current activities.
How it works?
Add in 8 16ounce glasses of water throughout your day, be sure to finish all 8 glasses by 5 in the evening so that your rest is not disturbed at night. Squeeze half a lemon in each glass of water. Drink the water on an empty stomach and then again at the end of your meals.
If you drink one glass on the hour between 7AM and 2PM you will have finished all eight glasses.
The citric acid and large amounts of water help to stimulate your bowels, so be aware that you’re likely to go to the bathroom a bit more - as well as just needing to pee.
After all that water consumption, you can end your day with a detox bath.
Run a warm water tub and add 1/2 cup of baking soda and a 1/2 cup of lavender epsom salts. Then light some candles, turn on a relaxation meditation (there are tons on youtube or try the abide app). This bath will cause you to sweat, which can be uncomfortable if you’re not used to it. Make sure you use common sense and get out if you feel light headed or nauseous.
If you’re looking for a more strenuous detox and want to try something to get a jumpstart on your health goals, make sure you contact me so I can help you create your perfect plan.
In the meantime, have a happy and joy-filled end of year.
